St Georges Day 2004
24th April 2004 - Risdens Park

_____________________________________________

Members of Harlow District Scouts joined together at the District camp site on the 24th April 04 to celebrate St Georges day and to remake their Scouting Promises. The day was full of activities including archery and pioneering activities including a commando bridge, swinging bridge and other get out of that type situations. Handicraft activities, cooking and other fun activities were also there catering for the age range 6 years to 18 years.

Whilst St. George the Patron Saint of Scouting was celebrated, the theme of the day was Saints and the activities covered many other Saints and their particular links with the different activities.

The celebrations finished early evening with a campfire supper in Risden Wood and all left happy but tired having enjoyed an active day.

About 170 people attended the activities which included Jenny Ragan (Chaplain to Harlow Scouts) and Judy Gilder (District Commissioner) presenting awards and certificates to members of Scouting, young and old, who had achieved certain skills or had shown dedication above and beyond the normal. <<...>> <<...>> <<...>>

The St Georges Day celebrations have become an important part of Harlow's Scouting calendar and by popular demand will no doubt happen again next year. Our thanks go to those 'backroom workers' who spent many hours planning and preparing so the day was such a success.
